what's important is what's on your feet

there is a war going on in iraq.

there are children in africa dying of aids.

there are women in afghanistan fighting for independence.

there are suicide bombings taking place daily in the middle east.

there are people dying of uncurable cancers.

and matt lauer is currently on the today show giving some college students a hard time because they wore flip-flops to the white house.

and we wonder why the world looks down on us.

oh, i love matt. don't get me wrong. i watch the today show every freaking morning. i just get so frustrated when we get our panties in a wad (and matt probably could have cared less, but obviously the story was making nationwide news) because of some stupid etiquette rule that no one follows in the first place. i have a hard time with rules and tradition (in case you can't tell) and... it just burned me.

but i absolutely loved the nearly wed game. i'm rooting for couple 1.

well i'm going to nyc on aug 3-7, so when i meet matt (and i will), i will pass on that the youth of today LIVE in flip flops, and if a pres really cared about us, s/he would approve! :)

Well, to me, it's more sad that you watch those shows. The shows shape the society that gets looked down on. We want to be what we see. Other countries have an identity, and we're just imitators of television.

Think if you would've taken a walk or sat in silence instead of propping an eyebrow against boisterous, pathetic hosts.

it doesn't bother me that i watch the today show. the morning is about the only chance i have to watch the news.

"we want to be what we see." true. good thing that you pointed this out. i think it's important to remind ourselves that while we are in this world, we are not of it. it's important to keep in mind that what many people (like on tv shows) think is important is not important to me.
